Our Hidden Gem
Created in 1958 as part of a small subdivision, Oak Hills Lake is treasured by its membership. It is important to understand that owning a lot bordering on Oak Hills Lake does not in itself entitle the Lot Owner to the use of the lake. The lake is a piece of Private Property owned by the Oak Hills Lake Development Association (OHLDA). Use of the lake is restricted to OHLDA members.
OHLDA Membership
Your OHLDA membership grants you and your family total access to the lake, including boating and fishing. You are also invited and encouraged to participate in the various meetings and events (parties) throughout the year. Most importantly, your dues are an investment in your property values. The lake is and will always be private; we watch out for each other. Outsiders who access the lake are quickly confronted.
Enclosed in the Welcome Packet is a current directory of homeowners and a set of Articles and Bylaws. When you become a member, you can contact Roy Johnson at 225.315.1173 to get a set of stickers for your boat(s). Stickers will be placed on each side in front, along with your lot number using 3″ or 4″ mailbox numbers found at any hardware store. Only one sticker is necessary for kayaks. This identifies you as a paying member, and also allows stray boats to be returned to their proper owner.
Socially, we have a crawfish boil in the Spring for all family members, and an adult Christmas/Holiday party in December. We also decorate our banks during the Holidays. “Light Up the Lake” is an event that allows us to night cruise the lake, visiting neighbors and enjoying the reflections.
The only requirements for membership in OHLDA are:
- Owning a lot bordering on the lake
- Payment of dues
- Obedience to the Bylaws
